Possible return to WWE?

The following is a new message written by The Ultimate Warrior in response to Vince McMahon welcoming him back to WWE recently. Warrior wrote:

“@VinceMcMahon Vince, thank you for your personal welcome back to the WWE Universe. It is noted and appreciated. All the Warriors of Parts Unknown take pride in being one of the original galaxies of the Universe you created. Not one of my days has passed without a flashback to my time in the business and my relationship with you. After 17 years of battling one another, perhaps the stars have finally aligned and Destiny is prepared to tell one of Sports Entertainment’s greatest stories: how two of the industry’s most determined, colorful, intense and explosive personalities brought to life a persona that made such an inspiring impression that it still captures the hearts and minds of fans all over the world, even all these years later. I am proud Ultimate Warrior is an iconic, immortal spirit in the Universe you created. I know, Vince McMahon, you are proud, too. The inhabitants of your WWE Universe believe your personal welcome is an invitation of sorts. If so, consider this my RSVP with one condition. Wisdom takes a seat at the table with us when we meet, but we each also leave unburied a slight edge of the hatchet we’ve carried over the years. that other gutless and heartless God-fearing men urge us to lay to rest forever. Face it, neither one of us were ever any good at being bored or boring others. So coming prepared to kill one another makes for a interesting backup plan. Always Believe, Warrior “

Spoilers for Raws taping on tuesday for Next Monday

The following are spoiler results for the Monday, July 29, 2013 edition of WWE RAW. The show was taped in Laredo, Texas on Tuesday, July 23, 2013.
-The show kicks off with an in-ring segment featuring the number one contender to the WWE Championship at SummerSlam, Daniel Bryan. Vince McMahon and Brad Maddox were also part of the segment, as the three discussed his impressive performances against Jack Swagger, Antonio Cesaro and Ryback on RAW the previous week. They also talk about Bryan’s match later on in the show against his former tag-team partner Kane.

-The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns) defeated The Usos and Mark Henry.

-Rob Van Dam defeated Fandango via Count Out. The finish came when Fandango left Summer Rae and ran to the back in the middle of the match.

-Kaitlyn defeated AJ Lee in a non-title match. After the match, Dolph Ziggler came out and dressed down Big E. Langston on the mic. Ziggler ends up challenging Langston to a match.

-Dolph Ziggler defeated Big E. Langston via Disqualification. The finish came when AJ Lee attacked Ziggler, costing Langston the match.

-Christian defeated current World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio. The match was not for the title, so Del Rio remains the World Heavyweight Champion.

-Cody Rhodes defeated Wade Barrett in singles action. After the conclusion of the match, Rhodes’ former tag-team partner and the current holder of the World Heavyweight Championship Money In The Bank briefcase, Damien Sandow, cut a promo.

-Daniel Bryan defeated Kane via Pinfall. After the match, Kane chokeslammed his former tag-team partner. This led to The Wyatt Family coming out and once again attacking “The Big Red Machine.” Bray Wyatt then cut another one of his wild promos.

-Brie Bella defeated Natalya. Typical Divas match. Was said to be kept relatively short.

-Curtis Axel defeated R-Truth in a non-title match. Before the match, Axel’s manager Paul Heyman cut a promo putting over Axel’s talent and abilities, etc. After the match, CM Punk made a run-in to an enormous pop from the fans in Laredo. Punk viciously attacked Axel to garner some amount of revenge for the attack he suffered at the hands of Heyman’s other client, Brock Lesnar, at RAW two weeks ago. Punk then had words for Heyman, who ran off to the back in fear.

-We shoot backstage to a segment featuring Vince McMahon, Triple H and Brad Maddox. Vince McMahon mentions how he wants a Superstar who is like Triple H to face John Cena for the WWE Championship at the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view.

-John Cena defeated Ryback in a Tables Match. Following the conclusion of the contest, Daniel Bryan came out to the ring and handed Cena his WWE Championship. The show went off the air with both Cena and Bryan celebrating in the ring.

Raws 5 point preview

1. Has Brock awakened the beast in CM Punk?
CM Punk is undergoing tough times. He’s without his coveted WWE Championship, his trust in Paul Heyman has been ripped to shreds and now his body has been battered by Heyman’s monstrous client, Brock Lesnar.
But could Lesnar’s assault backfire for the Heyman camp? Could it actually motivate, rather than intimidate, the man who built his career on fighting through adversity and challenge? Chances are Punk has something up his straight-edge sleeve for this week’s Raw.

2. Big Show returns!!
Ever since losing a match to Chris Jericho in May, The World’s Largest Athlete has been absent from TV, except for his participation on the WWE Payback and Money in the Bank Kickoff panels. During an exclusive interview in June, the angry giant revealed: "I'll take time off any time I want to, for as long as I want to!” Will the 441-pounder reveal who or what he’s after when he returns this Monday on Raw?

3. Is the Hall of Pain ready to induct 3 new members?
Last week, The Shield added Mark Henry to its list of massive Superstars the group has decimated with its signature Triple Powerbomb. The assault left The World’s Strongest Man down for the count. But Henry is certainly not one to back down from a fight. Could The Shield have bitten off more than they can chew with this latest assault of one of WWE’s most dangerous and unpredictable Superstars? Something says they better watch their collective backs.

4. Is the General Manager Brad Maddox capable of running Raw?
He’s young and inexperienced … and he’s in charge of the longest running weekly episodic television show in history. Brad Maddox was put in power by none other than Mr. McMahon himself. Last week’s Raw was the first under Maddox’s reign, and the exciting night still has the WWE Universe talking. It remains to be seen if the young man has what it takes to truly lead. What do you think?

5. Who will the Wyatts target next?
First it was Kane and R-Truth on Raw, then it was Justin Gabriel and 3MB on WWE Main Event who were brutally attacked by The Wyatt Family. After weeks of hints about when they would officially debut in WWE, the group came out swinging. Now, it’s clear no one is safe from their twisted agenda. But so far, the ragged trio has only offered cryptic clues as to what it’s all about, and especially why Kane was targeted first. Will we learn more about what makes them tick on this week’s Raw?

Possiblities for Summerslam

There are rumors going around for Summerslam and since John Cena vs Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship is official I've decided to make this post to tell you guys what I think could happen at Summerslam.  Now if it isn't that obvious Summerslam is a very big PPV and since it is that big they need some matches that will shock some people.  I am thinking Alberto Del rio defending the World title against Rob Van Dam.  There is no one else that could face Del Rio except for RVD.  So this is a possibility.  Because Dolph Ziggler won't be getting another shot for the title who else could it be?  Ryback?  The Miz?  No No Rob van Dam!  Now also Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston have started a rivalry so it is possibly we will see Dolph Ziggler vs Big E Langston at Summerslam.  But also Brock Lesnar attacked CM Punk on Raw so if it isn't obvious we could see Brock Lesnar vs CM Punk and rumors are going around saying CM Punk will lose and then leave WWE and return at the Royal Rumble to win it!  But who knows?  Also rumors are going around about The Undertaker returning at Summerslam.

This could happen and I think he would team up with Mark Henry and someone else to take on The Shield.  Also it is pretty obvious that Cody Rhodes is now a face and it is obvious that they are looking for Cody Rhodes vs Damien Sandow at Summerslam.  Also another rumor is that The Wyatt family could also take on The Brothers of Destruction too but I think Undertaker vs The Shield makes more sense.  But on the other hand we have the IC title and really no one good can go after it except The Miz.  But one person I do have in mind is possibly giving Zack Ryder another push with the IC title and then have him turn heel when he wins it!  Again these are just Possibly matches for Summerslam!

WWE 2k 14 Gameplay improvements

At a recent event in New York City, select members of the press got to interview WWE 2K14 pre-order bonus Legend, The Ultimate Warrior, and yes, spend some time with a build of WWE 2K14.
While we didn't give away everything, there were some notable improvements discussed at the event. And since we don't want to leave you in the dark, check out below for a list of all the tweaks, changes and updates discussed at the event, and make sure to stay tuned for more great updates to your new favorite game, WWE 2K14.
  • NEW NAVIGATION SYSTEM
    • The entire navigation system has been overhauled and reanimated including all walking, running, and dragging motions to give the game a more fluid and life-like feel and look.
    • Overall Superstar movement has been accelerated, meaning the action is faster-paced and more like what you see on WWE television.
    • There is now a "starting up" animation for when Superstars begin running. This leads to a more natural-looking match, where it is more difficult to "spam" running attacks.
    • Animation gestures have been added such as adjusting wrist bands, motioning for your opponent to get up, and many more to give a human-like appearance to the navigation system.
  • STRIKING CHANGES
    • Strikes and strike combos are now quicker and snappier, making them faster and harder to reverse.
    • Successfully landing a strike combo now puts your opponent in a groggy state, making groggy grapples appear earlier and more frequently.
  • REVERSAL SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
    • Reversing a grapple move now causes the reverser to do a move of his/her own automatically.
    • This cuts down on the endless back-and-forth "reversal fest" some users complained of in WWE '13 while also making the match move faster.
  • CATAPULT FINISHERS
    • Catching Finishers can now be executed offensively, by Irish Whipping your opponent to the ropes with a finisher stored or catapulting your opponent up when they run towards you.
    • Select finisher moves give you the ability to launch an opponent into the air and then hit them with a Catch Finisher on the way back down.
  • NEW OMG MOMENTS
    • New multi-man OMG Moments added to help you gain the upper-hand in multi-man matches. One OMG move can take out two opponents in one shot making it easier to get the win against multiple opponents.
      • Double Attitude Adjustment
      • Double Shellshock
      • Double Chokeslam
    • New OMG Moments added to allow you to dole out even more damage using the ring environment.
      • Boot-to-head on outside ringpost
      • DDT on the apron
  • TWO-COUNTS
    • One of the most reviled bugs in WWE '13 was the dearth of two-counts. This issue has been addressed, bringing back the dramatic near falls you know and love.
As you can see: Pretty exciting stuff. And the best news? We're only getting started with all the updates and revamps that come with WWE 2K14. As always, for the latest info on WWE 2K14, make sure to follow @WWEGames on Twitter and like us on Facebook. And don't forget to pre-order WWE 2K14, available in October 29 in North America, November 1 internationally.

The Miz.  Divas champion AJ Lee def. Kaitlyn.  Chris Jericho def. Ryback.  And
The Usos def. The Shield.

10 Money in the Bank MVPs

Kane.  With his ruthless history and overall aura of demonic mystery, Kane doesn’t seem much like the type of Superstar who’d carry around a briefcase for months on end, waiting for the opportunity at a World Title Match to strike (seriously, think about that image for a bit. Doesn’t seem right, does it?). Apparently, The Devil’s Favorite Demon thought that very same thing when he defeated Big Show, Christian, Kofi Kingston, Matt Hardy, Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre at WWE Money in the Bank 2010, only to cash in his World Heavyweight Championship contract on Rey Mysterio that same night.

Kofi Kingston.  These days, Kofi Kingston’s gravity-defying feats are mostly reserved for the Royal Rumble Match, where The Dreadlocked Dynamo has found some absurd way to stave off elimination for three years running. But Kofi’s no slouch when it comes to the Money in the Bank Ladder Match either, especially in one stupefying moment at WrestleMania XXVI when he used a broken ladder to fashion a pair of stilts in what has to be the most innovative attempt to grab the contract in Money in the Bank history.

Daniel Bryan.  By now, Daniel Bryan’s shadow has grown so large over the WWE Universe that with all the “YES!”es and “NO!”s and beards, it’s easy to forget how it all started. In 2011, Bryan was already a former U.S. Champion but his then-subdued personality (yes, Daniel Bryan was once low-key – his “Flight of the Valkyries” theme song didn’t even have the guitars yet) had left him saddled with an underdog mentality that belied his killer instinct in the ring. With doubters raining insults all around him – Cody Rhodes condescendingly and ironically labeled him as “a common man” – Bryan did what he does best and stepped up at the greatest possible moment, defeating Rhodes, Sheamus, Sin Cara, Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, and future BFF Kane to capture a World Heavyweight Championship contract.

Randy Orton.  Strange as it sounds given his storied career, Randy Orton has never won a Money in the Bank Ladder Match. However, The Apex Predator is responsible for one of the mad match’s most enduring moments at WrestleMania 23 when he went berserk and unleashed a slew of RKOs on Matt Hardy, Finlay and Mr. Kennedy, clearing the ring and giving himself the clearest shot at capturing the briefcase.

Dolph Ziggler.  He swore to show the world, and at Money in the Bank 2012, Dolph Ziggler did just that, climbing past Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Tensai, Tyson Kidd, Sin Cara and Christian to seize a World Heavyweight Championship contract. If nothing else, The Showoff’s tenure as a Money in the Bank contract holder was certainly the most entertaining, as he attempted a cadre of cash-ins on various World Champions but always failed due to the timely interference of some opponent or another who cut him off at the pass.

CM Punk.
CM Punk wrestles with a purpose. He’s out to prove that he truly is the Best in the World. The Money in the Bank Ladder Match gave The Straight Edge Superstar the boost he needed to reach the upper echelon of WWE and truly show what he was made of.
At WrestleMania XXIV, Punk evaded the high-flying ladder attacks of John Morrison, daredevil dives by Shelton Benjamins and the veteran know-how of Chris Jericho to win the bout. Punk successfully cashed in to win the World Heavyweight Title that June on Edge.  But that's not it!  At WrestleMania XXV he also won Money in the bank and defeated Kofi Kingston, MVP, Shelton Benjamin, Kane, Mark Henry, Finlay, and Christian and then cashed in Money in the Bank in June as well against Jeff Hardy

Shelton Benjamin.
Just because Shelton Benjamin never won a Money in the Bank Ladder Match doesn’t mean he didn’t make an impact. Taking part in five of the high-risk, high-reward bouts, The Gold Standard always made sure the WWE Universe was talking about him after the bell.
An accomplished amateur wrestler at the University of Minnesota, Benjamin was the last person you’d expect to be a daredevil. However, a guaranteed opportunity to challenge for the WWE or World Heavyweight Title will motivate even the most grounded Superstar to put everything on the line.
The Gold Standard used his agility and athleticism to his advantage, darting up ladders with lightning-quick speed. No matter how his opponents managed to stack up the ladders, Benjamin found a way to make his way to the top. At The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania, he showed what kind of damage he could do from the top of one, taking a daring leap onto his foes. Though he may not have retrieved the briefcase, Shelton Benjamin will be included in every Money in the Bank highlight reel in history.

Chris Jericho.  The chaos that comes around every summer at Money in the Bank is all thanks to one Superstar: Chris Jericho. It was Y2J who pitched the idea for the original Money in the Bank Ladder Match to then-Raw GM Eric Bischoff. Impressed, Bischoff set up the match for WrestleMania 21, and the rest is history.

Edge.
The Money in the Bank Ladder Match helped make Edge a WWE Hall of Famer. The victor of the inaugural bout, Edge set the tone for what the contract inside that briefcase could do for a Superstar’s career.
The Rated-R Superstar, practically a master of Ladder Matches, emerged victorious from the wreckage of the first Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 21. He patiently waited for the right moment to take his opportunity at glory, while the champions nervously looked over their shoulders.
Nearly nine months later, he found the perfect opening. John Cena was left beaten and covered in crimson after a brutal Elimination Chamber Match at New Year’s Revolution 2005. Edge stalked to the ring with a purpose and relinquished his briefcase. One Spear later and Edge’s ascent to the WWE Hall of Fame was on the fast track.

Rob Van Dam.  Like Edge, Rob Van Dam knew how to use the Money in the Bank contract to his advantage. Unlike The Rated-R Superstar, RVD gave the champion advance notice. After winning the brutal bout at WrestleMania 22, Van Dam told WWE Champion John Cena that he’d be cashing in on his home court, at the 2006 ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view.

Kane injured on Raw

As the WWE Universe witnessed Monday night on Raw, The Wyatt Family has arrived. No one is more aware of this fact — and the repercussions of their arrival — than Kane, who was targeted as The Wyatt’s first victim. Interrupting Kane’s match against Christian, the duo of Erick Rowan and Luke Harper attacked, viciously assaulting Kane with the steel ring steps.
WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann provided WWE.com with an update on Kane’s condition.
“Due to the head and neck trauma suffered by Kane, we precautiously immobilized his cervical spine with a cervical collar. He’s been transported to a local trauma facility and is currently undergoing further evaluation.”
Following the attack, Kane was carted off on a stretcher and taken to a local medical facility.
“After [Kane] was put into the ambulance, he was coherent; he was speaking to us and following simple commands. The biggest concern that we have is any sort of brain or cervical spine trauma that may be significant enough to either warrant surgery, or an extended period of time away from the ring.”
Stay tuned for further information regarding Kane’s status and what the effects of The Wyatt’s attack may mean as Money in the Bank approaches.

"Backstage Fallout" Raw July 08 2013

Top 20 WWE Superstars of the summer

20. The Nexus (2010)
When the season one NXT Rookies surrounded the ring like sharks on the June 7, 2010 edition of Raw, everyone — the Superstars, commentators and entire WWE Universe — was totally in the dark about the devastation that would be witnessed next. The week after winning the first season of WWE NXT, Wade Barrett wasted no time making a monumental impact by leading a havoc-causing invasion of the main event between John Cena and CM Punk. The heinous attack included the rookies dismantling the ring, assaulting Superstars and personnel, and destroying equipment as Raw went off the air.
The group of dangerous rebels would come to be known as The Nexus and, under Barrett's guidance, they changed WWE's landscape and made life hell for Cena all summer long. The Nexus went on to lose a pivotal showdown against Team WWE at SummerSlam, but each member undoubtedly left their mark in a short period of time.

19. Ultimate Warrior (1988)
Nobody in Madison Square Garden saw Ultimate Warrior coming at SummerSlam, but they sure felt the magnitude of his power that night. Like a flash of lightning, Ultimate Warrior tore through the arena and pummeled The Honky Tonk Man before he even had a chance to take off his entrance attire. All it took was 31 seconds for Warrior to press slam, splash and strip Honky Tonk of his coveted Intercontinental Championship, a title which he held for a record 454 days.
The jaw-dropping victory was a sign of big things to come from Warrior, who went on to capture his first WWE Championship one year later at WrestleMania VI.

18. JBL (2004)
Even the most skilled stock market prognosticators wouldn't have been able to predict JBL's rise in summer '04 as the longest-reigning WWE Champion in 10 years.
JBL felt right at home in a Texas Bull Rope Match against Eddie Guerrero at The Great American Bash, whipping Eddie Guerrero across the arena floor and powerbombing him through the Spanish announce table. There was a furious race to touch all four turnbuckles in the climactic finish, but the power broker from Sweetwater, Texas, edged out Guerrero for the WWE Title victory.
The crafty Superstar faced a very tough title defense matched up against The Undertaker at SummerSlam. However, The Deadman was disqualified when the referee caught him trying to turn the tables on JBL and use his WWE Championship as a weapon.

17. John Cena (2006)
Losing the WWE Championship on an ECW-branded pay-per-view may have been utterly devastating to some Superstars, but John Cena did not let a defeat to Rob Van Dam ruin his whole summer in 2006. Instead, the Cenation leader bounced back with a victory over Sabu in a Lumberjack Match at Vengeance, followed by a strong showing against WWE Champion Edge at Saturday Night's Main Event before Lita's dastardly tactics spoiled Cena's opportunity.
Cena got another chance at the WWE Title, though, when he faced Edge again at Unforgiven in September. Competing in his very first Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match, Cena didn't let Lita decide the outcome this time around, as he gave the extreme Diva a serious Attitude Adjustment to take her out of the match. The Rated-R Superstar received an even more ravaging AA — through two tables stacked together — to secure Cena's hard-fought third WWE Championship.

16. The Undertaker (1998)
The vision of Mankind being flung off the top of Hell in a Cell by The Undertaker at King of the Ring became the most unforgettable moment of 1998, as well as the most lurid example of why the Cell has earned some pretty intimidating nicknames. From start to finish, The Deadman was merciless in his attack on Mankind in their legendary encounter, setting the tone for his strong summer.
Undertaker inflicted more punishment on Mankind at Fully Loaded: In Your House, where The Phenom won the World Tag Team Championship alongside "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. A defeat to The Texas Rattlesnake at SummerSlam was a blemish on his seasonal big-match record, but The Demon of Death Valley got his vengeance by pinning Austin a month later at Breakdown: In Your House in September.

15. Hulk Hogan (1989)
Hulkamania appeared unstoppable in summer '89, just a few months from The Immortal One's huge WWE Title victory over Randy Savage at WrestleMania V.
In July, The Hulkster shined on Saturday Night's Main Event with a convincing win over The Honky Tonk Man. Yet the challenge was much tougher for Hogan at SummerSlam as he teamed up with Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake to take on Savage and the mighty Zeus. Adding another obstacle into the mix was "Sensational" Sherri, who constantly looked to give the team of Savage and Zeus an edge by any means necessary. Sherri's loaded purse wound up being the equalizer for the wrong duo, however, as Hulk used it to clobber Zeus, and then followed with a scoop slam and his signature Leg Drop for the victory.
The Immortal One's second WWE Championship reign endured throughout the summer and beyond, lasting almost an entire year at 364 days.

14. Kurt Angle (2003)
If there was any single performer who appeared to have figured out how to stop Brock Lesnar in his tracks — or at least derail him — it's Kurt Angle.
The Olympic gold medalist had a terrific summer in 2003, with his three biggest matches all involving Brock. First, Angle nailed Angle Slams on both Big Show and Lesnar in a Triple threat Match at Vengeance to win the WWE Championship. Then, despite the meddling attempts of Mr. McMahon to cost Angle the WWE Title, Angle managed to defeat Lesnar at SummerSlam by masterfully countering the F-5 into an Ankle Lock which made “The Anomaly” tap out.
On the heels of that sensational encounter, Angle and Brock had one of the best fights of their careers during the Sept. 18, 2003 SmackDown. The supreme athletes battled for 60 minutes in the first WWE Iron Man Match on network television. Angle came up just short of conquering Brock a third time as Lesnar survived with a 5-4 scoring edge and the WWE Title as time expired.

13. Mankind (1996)
Defeating The Undertaker once is a milestone in itself; notching two victories over The Phenom in the same summer is a rare and remarkable feat.
At King of the Ring, Mankind went right for the supposed source of The Deadman's power as he grabbed the urn and tried to hit Undertaker with it. Paul Bearer was able to get it back, but when he tried to turn the tables and use it as a weapon to whack Mankind, the move backfired and Undertaker was the one bowled over. The misstep allowed Mankind to lock in his fearsome Mandible Claw for the win.
The circumstances were far different in the rivals' historic Boiler Room Brawl at SummerSlam, but the end result was the same. This time, Bearer shockingly betrayed The Deadman and sided with Mankind, who came out on top following another Mandible Claw. Sandwiched in between those two wins, Mankind also toppled Henry Godwinn at In Your House: International Incident in July to keep his momentum rolling.

12. Batista (2005)
With Evolution in his rear-view mirror, 2005 was the opportune time for Batista to unleash the full force of The Animal within. Holding the World Heavyweight Title for a record 282 days, Batista racked up a number of standout victories through the year, including a pair of convincing performances that summer against WWE's elite.
In June, Batista went to war with Triple H as the two former allies met inside Hell in a Cell with the title on the line. From a steel chain to a chair wrapped in barbed wire, The Game pulled out all the stops in an effort to dethrone The Animal. Despite the severe punishment, Batista retained his title by planting Triple H with a Batista Bomb right as he moved to strike with his sledgehammer.
Another vicious bout awaited Batista at SummerSlam as JBL selected a No Holds Barred stipulation for their title matchup. But the stipulation choice backfired when JBL tried to use the ring steps and instead was driven into the hard steel by a second Batista Bomb.

11. Shawn Michaels (1996)
Arguably, Shawn Michaels' summers of 1995 and 1996 were equally special in the WWE Hall of Famer's career. One year, The Showstopper was dazzling WWE fans as an Intercontinental Champion, and the next he had already skyrocketed to his first WWE Title reign — one that lasted an impressive 231 days.
Proving his mettle as the WWE Champion, HBK defeated British Bulldog in a back-and-forth clash fraught with interference at King of the Ring. Two months later, Michaels went toe-to-toe with Vader at SummerSlam for nearly 30 minutes in a match that left The Icon physically drained from withstanding so much punishment from his much larger and more powerful opponent. Still, HBK dug down deep and found the strength to pull off the decisive top-rope moonsault to retain his title.

10. Triple H (2003)
Imagine having to fight in a Hell in a Cell Match and an Elimination Chamber Match in one summer. Yeah, triple-digit temperatures don't stack up to that type of punishment.
That's exactly what Triple H had to endure in 2003 as he first successfully defended his World Heavyweight Title against Kevin Nash inside Satan's Structure at Bad Blood, and then retained the championship by surviving a war in the Chamber with Nash, Goldberg, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton and Chris Jericho at SummerSlam. The King of Kings' World Heavyweight Title reign lasted 280 days — the second longest in WWE history — before he would finally lose the title gold in late September.
Summer '03 was also an especially memorable one for The Game because his stable, Evolution, had just begun its meteoric rise to dominance in WWE.

9. Bret Hart (1997)
There is no shortage of classic Bret Hart matches at SummerSlam. The "Hit Man" always turned the heat up another notch at The Biggest Party of the Summer, and 1997 was no exception as Hart toppled The Undertaker to capture his fifth and final WWE Championship. Even before Bret's crowning moment, however, The Excellence of Execution had notched an important victory in July when he led The Hart Foundation over "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's team at In Your House: Canadian Stampede, which was hosted right in Hart's hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Following his big win at SummerSlam, the "Hit Man" went on to successfully defend the WWE Title against The Patriot at Ground Zero: In Your House in September, and fanned the flames of his unpatriotic behavior by choking his opponent with the American flag.

8. Edge and Christain (2000)
You needed more than the benefit of flash photography to capture all the action from Edge and Christian's matches in summer 2000. A frenzied Triangle Ladder Match at WrestleMania ushered in their first World Tag Team Championship reign, but it was the later sweltering months that solidified the bodacious duo as the must-watch tag team in WWE.
At King of the Ring in June, Edge and Christian prevailed over three other tandems in a Four Corners Elimination Match, a contest which included their rivals, The Hardy Boyz. Then, after escaping a battle with the APA at Fully Loaded with their titles, the "fightingest" World Tag Team Champions engaged in their most incredible fight yet at SummerSlam. Raising the bar for hardcore innovation, E&C dazzled the WWE Universe as they conquered The Dudley Boyz and The Hardy Boyz in the first-ever Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match.

7. Stone Cold" Steve Austin definitely felt the heat from multiple angles in summer '98. As his fierce rivalry with Mr. McMahon grew increasingly chaotic, Austin also had his hands full with dangerous competitors like Kane and Mankind in the WWE Title picture. In June, a mere two weeks after battling in Raw's first Hell in a Cell Match, The Texas Rattlesnake lost his WWE Title in a savage First Blood Match to Kane at King of the Ring. But "Stone Cold" quickly struck back in a big way, reclaiming the title from The Big Red Monster the very next night on Raw.
Austin's summer only got better from there as he teamed up with The Undertaker at Fully Loaded: In Your House to win the World Tag Team Championship over Kane and Mankind. The toughest S.O.B.'s alliance with The Deadman didn't last long, however. When SummerSlam rolled around, there was "Stone Cold" defending his WWE Championship against his former tag team partner. Remarkably, Austin kept Undertaker's shoulders pinned to the mat for the three-count following a "Stone Cold" Stunner — a feat that even impressed The Phenom as he nodded to the champ in respect.

6. Macho Man Randy Savage (1991)
Before "Macho Man" Randy Savage stammered through those six words, the crowd had already erupted with glee as they watched Savage get down on one knee to propose to Miss Elizabeth. One month after that emotional episode of “WWE Superstars of Wrestling” aired in July, Randy and Elizabeth were married in a "Match Made in Heaven" at SummerSlam. The ceremony had it all — a touching first dance, a joyous bouquet toss and, unfortunately, even some party crashers in Jake "The Snake" Roberts and The Undertaker.
From Kane and Lita to Edge and Vickie Guerrero, the WWE Universe has seen many power couples unite in the years since, but there will never be another "Mr. and Mrs. Macho," as Gene Okerlund dubbed them. By baring his love for Miss Elizabeth for the whole world to witness, Savage became the summer's biggest Superstar without participating in a match at SummerSlam.

5. Randy Orton (2009)
Randy Orton went to hell and back in summer '09 to keep his WWE Title — with the sledgehammer contusions to show for it. The Viper battled Triple H at The Bash in a grueling Three Stages of Hell Match, running the gauntlet of a single, Falls Count Anywhere and Stretcher Match, but it was two pay-per-view contests later that summer that really tested his resolve as a champion.
First, The Apex Predator had to tangle with The Game and familiar rival John Cena in a Triple Threat Match at Night of Champions, a bout which nearly saw Orton lose via submission before drilling Cena with an RKO to retain his title. Then, in a 20-minute showdown with the Cenation leader at SummerSlam, The Viper once again scraped by and used the RKO as his out-of-nowhere equalizer to hold the championship gold past Labor Day.

4. The Rock (2000)
In the summer of the new millennium, The Rock kicked off the longest of his eight WWE Title reigns by winning a match that was as unpredictable as it looked on paper. The main event at King of the Ring in June was a Six-Man Tag Team Match between Triple H, Mr. McMahon and Shane McMahon against The Rock, Kane and The Undertaker, but due to a unique stipulation, whoever notched the pinfall would become WWE Champion. Leave it to The Great One to charge through the chaos and Rock Bottom The Chairman for the decisive blow.
There was no time to rest for The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment, as he successfully defended the WWE Title one night later against Triple H and Kurt Angle in a Triple Threat Match on Raw. After winning another exhausting clash in the main event of Fully Loaded in July, The Brahma Bull locked horns with Triple H and Angle again at SummerSlam, this time having to overcome relentless interference from Stephanie McMahon to emerge with his title reign intact.

3. British Bulldog (1992)
Can one victory make a Superstar's summer legendary? To find out the answer, just listen to the roar of more than 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium after British Bulldog stunned Bret Hart to win the Intercontinental Championship.
With boxer Lennox Lewis accompanying him to the ring, British Bulldog soaked in the love from London and fed off the electric energy throughout the 25-minute SummerSlam main event. In a spellbinding finish, British Bulldog managed to escape Hart's Sharpshooter and countered a sunset flip to pull off the emotional upset. You'd be hard-pressed to find a greater SummerSlam match — and more impactful summertime moment — than British Bulldog's first and only Intercontinental Title triumph.

2. Brock Lesnar (2002)
Paul Heyman wasn't kidding when he dubbed Brock Lesnar "The Next Big Thing" soon after he made his destructive debut on the March 18, 2002 edition of Raw. A mere three months later, the monstrous Superstar from Minnesota won the prestigious King of the Ring tournament to earn the right to challenge The Rock for the WWE Championship. But to keep his opportunity at The Great One's title at SummerSlam, Lesnar fixed his beady eyes on The Immortal One, Hulk Hogan, and dispatched of the WWE Hall of Famer with a rib-crushing bear hug on the Aug. 8, 2002, SmackDown.
If the WWE Universe wasn't already convinced Brock was a freak of nature, his outstanding physical performance at SummerSlam sealed the deal with a fury. After dodging the People's Elbow and blocking two Rock Bottoms, Lesnar sent The Brahma Bull crashing to the canvas with an F-5 as he became the then-youngest WWE Champion in history at 25.

1. CM Punk (2011)
It's the only summer in WWE history to merit an unofficial title bearing a Superstar's name, as well as to inspire WWE fans to compose YouTube tribute montages dedicated to his meteoric rise. The defining moment of the "Summer of Punk" is the scathing verbal tirade that The Voice of the Voiceless launched on the June 27, 2011 Raw, but the end result of CM Punk's "pipe bomb" was the birth of one of the most explosive WWE Champions of all time.
When The Second City Savior defeated John Cena in an instant classic at Money in the Bank and left the Allstate Arena with the WWE Title (just as he proclaimed he would), Punk sparked a buzz that turned the entire WWE Universe on its collective ear. The Straight Edge Superstar went on to successfully defend his title in a terrific rematch against Cena at SummerSlam before Alberto Del Rio cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and swiped the title away. Undeterred in his mission to be called "Best in the World," Punk barely lost to Triple H at Night of Champions and persistently clawed his way back to the top to seize his second WWE Championship.

News and rumors for Money in the Bank 2013

Daniel Bryan a big winner coming out of money in the bank:
Daniel Bryan is the hottest star in the WWE right now, and after rumors surfaced last month that he would fight John Cena at Money in the Bank for the WWE Championship, per Wrestling Inc., the monster push being reported could be coming to fruition at Money in the Bank.
While the WWE could have Bryan just earn a title shot after Henry loses, winning the Money in the Bank briefcase and cashing it in at SummerSlam as a face would be the smartest plan for the company.
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter via Marc Middleton of Wrestling Inc., this is a very real possibility:
Almost everyone within WWE says Daniel Bryan vs. John Cena is a lock for SummerSlam and that it won't be pulled like it was at Money in the Bank. There are forces within the company pushing for Bryan to win the WWE Title from Cena.
There was some talk that Bryan would be turning heel to square off against Cena for the championship, but with the in-ring master getting ovations from the crowd unlike anyone else in the business right now, keeping him as a good guy is the only real option.

Brock Lesnar scheduled for Post-Money in the Bank Raw:
Former WWE champion CM Punk is a serious favorite to win the ladder match, but with an obvious matchup against Brock Lesnar brewing heading into SummerSlam, how Punk loses at Money in the Bank is very important.
There is always a possibility that Lesnar costs Punk the victory, and according to Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc., the former UFC champion is scheduled to be in Brooklyn for the Raw following the PPV:
Brock Lesnar, Rob Van Dam, Vince McMahon and Triple H are all scheduled for the post-Money In The Bank RAW on July 15th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The advertised dark match is John Cena vs. Mark Henry.
The WWE could just simply have Lesnar appear on Monday without making an impact at the PPV, but what better way to explain Punk’s lose in the match and build even more bad blood than by having the Beast Incarnate influence the match outcome?
As if Philadelphia needed another reason to explode, watching Lesnar F’5 Punk would be unforgettable.

Pre-Raw Money in the Bank card:
As opposed to many other PPVs, Sunday’s card for the Money in the Bank event has already been decided. Monday’s go-home edition of Raw will be about putting the finishing touches on the company’s storylines.
WWE Champion John Cena vs. Mark Henry
World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler
WWE Championship Money in the Bank All-Stars Ladder Match
World Heavyweight Championship Contract Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Divas Champion AJ Lee vs. Kaitlyn
Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel vs. The Miz
Chris Jericho vs. Ryback
WWE Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns vs. The Usos (Kickoff Match)
It’s great to see the WWE planning ahead for this event, but this is all about setting the groundwork for August's SummerSlam PPV. The company invests so much into that show, and Money in the Bank is the perfect appetizer for the main course.
Not only will the direction of the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships be determined in the ladder matches, the possibilities for swerves in each title bout makes this the perfect opportunity for the company to posture for the following PPV.
This show will be flat-out amazing.

7 potential challengers for Alberto Del Rio

 Dolph Ziggler.
One night removed from WrestleMania 29, Dolph Ziggler cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and won the World Heavyweight Championship from Alberto Del Rio. Unfortunately, his reign was short-lived, as he dropped the strap back to Del Rio at the inaugural WWE Payback pay-per-view.
Once their match concluded, Del Rio reverted back to his heel persona while Ziggler turned babyface for the first time in his career. Both heated rivals are on a collision course towards Money in the Bank, where the bleached blonde Superstar will invoke his automatic-rematch clause against Del Rio.
If Ziggler comes up short of regaining the gold, who knows if he’ll ever get another title shot? I certainly hope so, as Ziggler can make for a great World Heavyweight Champion if booked correctly.

 Chris Jericho.
Five days following WWE Payback, Chris Jericho took on World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio in singles action on SmackDown. Although Jericho came close to emerging victorious and earning a future title shot, interference from Dolph Ziggler gave Del Rio the disqualification victory.
Del Rio and Jericho met once again three days later on Raw, but Y2J picked up the win via disqualification following an ambush from Ricardo Rodriguez. Instead of being placed in contention for the world title at Money in the Bank, it was announced by Vickie Guerrero that Jericho will be facing Ryback at the pay-per-view instead.
Recent reports have indicated that Jericho will once apart be departing the company following Money in the Bank, which may mean the chances of Jericho contending for a world title any time soon are slim to none. However, I hope to see Y2J wear championship gold at least one more time before he hangs up his boots for good.

Christian.
Christian has been on an absolute roll since returning to the ring last month. He paired up with The Usos two weeks ago to give The Shield their second ever defeat in six-man tag team action and delivered an instant classic with Randy Orton last week on SmackDown.
Captain Charisma has made it quite clear in recent weeks that he is still fully focused on getting his “one more match” for the World Heavyweight Championship. If he comes up short of winning the All-Stars Money in the Bank Ladder match this Sunday, why not have him set his sights on the gold around Alberto Del Rio’s waist?
Remember, Del Rio was the Superstar who Christian defeated at 2011′s Extreme Rules event to capture his first world title. Their feud dates back to late 2010 when the Mexican aristocrat put Christian out of action, which can be touched upon if they were to rekindle their ruthless rivalry.

CM Punk.
Prior to their most recent confrontation on SmackDown, CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio last crossed paths in the final few months of 2011. It was at that year’s Survivor Series event that Punk defeated Del Rio to win his second WWE Championship, a reign that would last for a record-setting 434 days.
Their last two matches on Raw and SmackDown, respectively, stole the show and solidified that the two are simply incapable of having a bad match together. Del Rio hasn’t defeated The Straightedge Superstar in a one-on-one matchup since SummerSlam 2011, where the Latino competitor cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to win the WWE title.
That being said, Del Rio would have something to prove if Punk were to challenge him for his golden prize. After Punk’s feud with Brock Lesnar concludes, should we expect him to set his sights on the World Heavyweight Championship shortly thereafter?

The Miz.
Following a five-month reign as WWE Champion, The Miz was relegated to the mid-card, where he has been floundering ever since. Sure, he’s won two Intercontinental Championships in the last two years, but both reigns were lackluster and failed to get Miz back on the map.
He took a brief hiatus from WWE after WrestleMania 29 to film a new Christmas movie for ABC Family. Upon his return to the ring in May, Miz stated that he plans on winning another world championship at some point in the foreseeable future.
I could most definitely see Miz flourish on the SmackDown side, where he can chase Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship. The two have yet to clash in singles competition, so the match would feel fresh and would be unprecedented.
However, the key is building The Awesome One back up to prominence. He hasn’t meant much over the course of 2013, but there’s a strong chance that can change if he were in contention for Del Rio’s prestigious prize.

Daniel Bryan.
From last September to May 2013, Team Hell No dominated the tag team ranks as WWE Tag Team Champions. As entertaining as his paring with Kane was, it was only a matter of time before Daniel Bryan flew solo and broke off into singles competition.
The recent reactions Bryan has been getting are exactly why he should be in contention for a top-tier championship. If WWE can resist turning him heel, I think they have a real money-making Superstar in The American Dragon.
Most people would like to see Bryan challenge John Cena for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam, but I have a bad feeling that that wouldn't end well for the former NXT Rookie. I don’t see Bryan winning the WWE title from Cena as a fan favorite, so I would rather see Bryan take on someone he has a better chance of beating in Alberto Del Rio.
Del Rio and Bryan have had a handful of fun matches over the years, but never a full-fledged rivalry. Throw in the fact that they both have lethal submission holds in their repertoire and you have yourself an exciting clash over the World Heavyweight Championship.

Rob Van Dam.
Aside from a brief appearance in the 2009 Royal Rumble match, Rob Van Dam hasn’t competed in a WWE ring in nearly six years. He’ll be making his long awaited return to the company this Sunday at the Money in the Bank event in the All-Stars Money in the Bank Ladder match.
I fully expect RVD to have a role similar to Chris Jericho's upon his return in the sense that he’ll be working most of the televised tapings and pay-per-views. That being said, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for him to be in contention for one of WWE’s most prestigious prizes.
He and Alberto Del Rio have never before clashed in the squared circle, but I’m sure their eventual encounter would be nothing short of excellent. If RVD were to capture the world title, he would join an elite group of individuals who have held the WWE Championship, ECW Championship and World Heavyweight Championship.
Likewise, a win over the one-of-a-kind competitor could give Del Rio an immense amount of credibility as champion. RVD could be a valuable asset to the blue brand and help make the title picture exciting once again.
Whether it be Rob Van Dam, CM Punk or any of the other aforementioned Superstars, there is a long list of worthy contenders who are anxious to take the title off the waist of Alberto Del Rio. Who would you like to see challenge Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship in the coming months?

When will Rey Mysterio return to the WWE?

In a tweet coming out from Rey Mysterio.  He said that he is hoping to be back by Summerslam!  This is really exciting news because Rey Mysterio he needs to come back and possibly win another World title or Intercontintal championship.  But Rey Mysterio could possibly win another Royal Rumble or at WrestleMania!  Rey Mysterio has not been at WrestleMania since 2011 which is a really long time!  But his last ppv event was this year in the Royal Rumble match.  So hopefully by Summerslam we will see Rey Mysterio!

Raws 5 point preview.

5. Cry(back) me a river:  Last week’s Raw brought an entirely unexpected development when Ryback, seemingly weakened from a SmackDown bout the previous Friday, called for a match stoppage against The Miz when The Awesome One put a hurting on the big man’s leg that was apparently too severe to bear. Ryback’s dodge certainly lent credence to Chris Jericho’s insults of “Cryback,” but is the “Human Wrecking Ball” truly that shaken up after a failed pursuit of the WWE Title? Or is he just playing possum to get Jericho cocky before he faces Y2J at Money in the Bank?

4. Queen of a day:  Has the time finally run out on Vickie Guerrero’s controversial stewardship of Monday Night Raw? Vickie has caught flack from Mr. McMahon since she took the reins of WWE’s flagship show last fall. Conflicting orders from The Chairman and his family have put Vickie in a truly unenviable position, one that’s led to a make-or-break performance review on this Monday’s show. Whether Vickie ascends to the permanent throne or finds herself back among the serfs, however, is very much up in the air.

3. Friendly Fire: Among the many intriguing subplots of the two Money in the Bank Ladder Matches is that one or more sets of friends and teammates will be competing against each other in each match. Kane and Daniel Bryan, just weeks removed from the seeming dissolution of Team Hell No, will contend for the WWE Title ontract in the All-Stars Match, while Team Rhodes Scholars and new allies Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro are all in the World Heavyweight Championship contract bout. The tension seems to have already taken a toll on the famously chummy Rhodes Scholars, as miscommunication led to defeats on both Raw and SmackDown. Will any other units suffer a similar fate in the weeks ahead?

2. Punk's Dilemma: CM Punk’s heart grew three sizes on SmackDown when he stood up for the very man he’s been trying to distance himself from, coming to Paul Heyman’s aid after the mad scientist found himself attacked by World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio. But Heyman, a master manipulator, likely won’t let his former protégé get away clean with a kind gesture: Look for the former ECW head honcho try to guilt-trip Punk back into his fold, but will tensions rise as a result?

1. All in the family: It’s been years and years since a debuting Superstar has cast as imposing a shadow over the WWE Universe as The Wyatt Family. Theories and speculation have abounded as to what the backwoods madman Bray Wyatt’s mission is and where his family fits into the equation. The rambling sermons glimpsed in the family’s creepy dispatches haven’t provided much clarity. But it’s likely their actions will speak volumes once they make their arrival on Monday’s show.

    10. Antonio Cesaro.
After the massive reaction he received when he came close to winning the World Heavyweight Championship at 2012's Elimination Chamber event, it only made sense for WWE to give Santino Marella the United States Championship shortly thereafter.
The only issue? Marella quickly made a mockery of the title and devalued it drastically during the time that he held it.
Following his successful title defense against Jack Swagger on the June 25 edition of Raw, Marella didn't put the gold up for grabs until SummerSlam. This was where his 167 day reign as U.S. Champion came to an end at the hands of Antonio Cesaro.
Sure, Cesaro is no American (although he now claims to be), but he made the title relevant during the first few months of his reign. He sported red, white and blue trunks at one point and even brought an American flag to ringside with him during his matches.
He defended the strap against the likes of Zack Ryder, R-Truth and Justin Gabriel for the remainder of the year before becoming an enhancement talent in 2013. Not only was his feud with The Miz mediocre, but he lost to the likes of Randy Orton, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio on a number of occasions.
Although he managed to maintain possession of the strap for a whopping 239 days, his reign fell flat in the new year. Kofi Kingston beat him for the belt to very little fanfare on the April 15 edition of Raw.
If Cesaro dropped the title to Kingston but no one was there to see it, did it really happen? If not, then consider the Swiss Superman still your reigning, defending United States Champion.

    9. Daniel Bryan.
Mere days after taking part in the controversial Nexus angle that occurred on the June 7, 2010, news broke that Daniel Bryan had been released from WWE. It was revealed his departure was due to the aggressive antics he displayed that night on Raw and that they were not suitable for a PG audience.
The Internet practically imploded after hearing this and started petitions to get Bryan back in WWE. Sure enough, Vince McMahon re-signed Bryan to a contract, allowing The American Dragon to make his shocking return to the company at its SummerSlam pay-per-view.
After his former NXT Pro The Miz cost him the matchup, Bryan set his sights on The Awesome One's United States Championship. The two were on a collision course going into Night of Champions, where Bryan forced Miz to tap out to the LaBelle Lock to score his first U.S. title.
For the remainder of the year, Bryan had fantastic matches with the likes of John Morrison, Dolph Ziggler, Ted DiBiase and others. Although he didn't defend the belt as much in 2011, he was always the go-to guy for entertaining matches on a weekly basis.
He maintained possession of the star-spangled prize for six long months before dropping the strap to Sheamus on the March 14 edition of Raw. The title helped elevate Bryan, who has since become a Money in the Bank winner and former World Heavyweight Champion.

    8. Dolph Ziggler.
Dolph Ziggler finally achieved his long awaited dream in February 2011 when he was awarded his first World Heavyweight Championship, albeit for only 15 minutes. Following his banishment from SmackDown, he jumped ship to Raw and rekindled his feud with then-United States Champion Kofi Kingston.
The two familiar foes faced off at the inaugural (and only) Capitol Punishment pay-per-view, where Ziggler captured his first U.S. title. With Vickie Guerrero in his corner, there was no stopping Ziggler on the flagship show now that he once again had gold around his waist.
Some may have seen it as a demotion for the bleached blonde Superstar, but I thought it was a great way for him to regain momentum after losing it all to Edge earlier in the year. From surviving a Fatal 4-Way to scoring an upset victory over Randy Orton, it got to the point where the star-spangled prize was holding Ziggler back.
Fans looked at his match with then-WWE Champion CM Punk on the November 21 edition of Raw as a sign that Ziggler was ready to main event. After reigning as U.S. champ for six long months, The Show-Off dropped the strap to Zack Ryder at WWE TLC in December.
From there, Ziggler entered a WWE Championship program with Punk before winning the SmackDown Money in the Bank Ladder match in July 2012. He is currently chasing Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship.

    7.  Shelton Benjamin.
As The Gold Standard, Shelton Benjamin took ECW by storm and delivered five-star matches every time he stepped into the squared circle. It wasn't long before he became SmackDown property in the 2008 WWE Draft and started chasing Matt Hardy for the United States Championship.
On the July 11 edition of SmackDown, Benjamin defeated Hardy in a non-title match, earning himself a shot at the title at The Great American Bash pay-per-view. At the event, Benjamin scored the three count on the master of the Twist of Fate to pick up his first U.S. title.
Benjamin wore the star-spangled prize proudly around his waist for 240 consecutive days, the second longest reign since the title's reactivation a decade ago. He took on all comers, including the likes of Jeff Hardy, R-Truth and Hurricane Helms.
The belt might not have led him to a world championship, but it did give him one last hurrah before leaving the company in 2010.

    6.  Kofi Kingston.
Throughout his five year tenure in WWE, Kofi Kingston has garnered quite a bit of championship gold. Of those titles, Kingston has three reigns as United States Champion to his credit.
He first captured the U.S. title on the June 1, 2009 edition of Raw, defeating MVP in what was a very entertaining contest. Kingston defended the gold almost every week for four straight months and had one of the best U.S. title reigns in recent memory.
Upon his return to Raw in early 2011, Kingston defeated Sheamus in an impromptu Tables match at Extreme Rules to embark on his second reign as U.S. champ. He would also put an end to Antonio Cesaro's lengthy reign as champion on the April 15, 2013 edition of Raw.
However, the Ghana native's time with the title was brief this time around, as he was later defeated by Dean Ambrose for the strap at May's Extreme Rules event.
Personally, I found his first reign as United States Champion to be the best, as his subsequent reigns were simply icing on the cake.

    5.  The Miz.
After The Dirt Sheet Duo split in April 2009, many thought John Morrision would be the first one to get a singles push over The Miz. While Morrison was pushed eventually, Miz was immediately inserted into a program with John Cena upon his arrival on Raw.
Although he wasn't on the winning end of that feud, Miz began chasing Kofi Kingston for the United States Championship that summer. He came up short of winning the gold on numerous occasions, but was finally successful on the October 5 edition of Raw.
From there, Miz embarked on a lengthy reign as U.S. Champion and defended the gold almost every month until he dropped it. Of course, he wasn't fully focused on the star-spangled prize while he reigned as Unified Tag Team Champion from February to April 2010, but it was still a feather in his cap.
Following successful title defenses against the likes of MVP and Mark Henry, Miz finally dropped the strap to Bret Hart on the May 15 Raw, ending his reign at an impressive 224 days.
He regained the gold a mere month later and had one successful title defense against R-Truth at Fatal 4-Way. Aside from that, The Awesome One didn't defend the U.S. title for the three months he held it before losing it to Daniel Bryan at Night of Champions.

    4. John Cena.
Long before he was holding the WWE Championship and preaching people to rise above hate, John Cena was nothing more than a rising rookie on SmackDown. In 2003, he dubbed himself "The Doctor of Thuganomics" and adopted a rapping gimmick that was very similar to who he was in real life.
Whether his raps were actually entertaining is up for debate, but there's no questioning that he was quite impressive in the ring against the likes of Kurt Angle, Undertaker and established stars. At WrestleMania 20, he defeated Big Show to win his first United States Championship in what was his initial appearance on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
In the year that followed, Cena held the title a total of three times and had a great series of matches with Booker T that fall. He is also known as the only man to have customized the U.S. title belt since its activation a decade ago.
Many people may argue that this was the best run of Cena's career. His third reign lasted nearly four months before coming to an end at the hands of Orlando Jordan in March 2005.
The star-spangled prize was a key factor in Cena's rise to the top of the WWE that year. He went on to challenge JBL for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 21 and the rest is history.

    3. Booker T.
At the time Booker T captured his first United States Championship in 2001, World Wrestling Entertainment had just bought World Championship Wrestling. It wouldn't be until the title's reactivation a few years later that Booker T would finally win the star-spangled prize back in an eight-man elimination match in mid-2004.
He was John Cena's first true test when the two competed in Best of Five series over the title for the remainder of the year. Although Cena eventually beat him for the belt, Booker T regained the gold a year later in October 2005.
This jump-started an unforgettable feud with Chris Benoit, where the two exchanged victories for close to three months. After an extraordinary Best of Seven series, Booker captured the U.S. title for a fourth time.
The former five-time WCW Champion was a staple in the SmackDown mid-card for a number of years before winning the King of the Ring tournament and World Heavyweight Championship in 2007.

    2. Chris Benoit.
Similar to Booker T, Chris Benoit had already held the United States Championship on two separate occasions while in WCW. Once he was sent packing to SmackDown in the 2005 WWE Draft, Benoit immediately set his sights on Orlando Jordan's star-spangled prize.
The two met in a match with the title on the line at The Great American Bash, where Benoit was unsuccessful in capturing the gold. Regardless, Benoit defeated Jordan in a record-setting 25 seconds to win his third United States Championship.
He reigned as champion for two months before dropping the strap to Booker T on SmackDown. Although Benoit failed to emerge victorious in his Best of 7 series with Booker, he soundly defeated the former five-time WCW Champion at No Way Out the following February.
Benoit's fourth reign as U.S. champ lasted a mere 42 days before it came to an end at the hands of JBL at WrestleMania 22. It was six months later on the October 13 edition of SmackDown that the Rabid Wolverine gave Mr. Kennedy his first submission loss in WWE and captured his record-setting fifth U.S. title.
For seven straight months, Benoit successfully defended the gold on a regular basis, which included a victory over MVP at WrestleMania 23. MVP eventually defeated Benoit for the belt in a two-out-of-three falls match at 2007's Judgement Day event, ending the former World Heavyweight Champion's reign at 222 days.

    MVP.
In August 2006, Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP for short) made his WWE debut on SmackDown. It was a well-known fact that he was (in storyline) the highest paid Superstar on the blue brand, going undefeated in singles action for the remainder of the year.
With momentum on his side, MVP challenged Chris Benoit for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 23, but to no avail. MVP suffered another loss to Benoit at Backlash before finally capturing the star-spangled prize in an excellent two-of-three falls match at Judgement Day.
From that point forward, MVP embarked on what is still to this day the longest United States Championship reign in WWE history. During his tenure with the title, MVP had a long running rivalry with Matt Hardy, challenging him to all sorts of contests for the remainder of the year.
He and Hardy put their differences aside that fall to win the WWE Tag Team Championships together. They maintained possession of the straps for two months before dropping the gold to John Morrison and The Miz in November.
Their feud resumed the following April upon Hardy's return to the ring. MVP came up short of reaching the year mark as champion, as he lost the title to Hardy at the Backlash pay-per-view.
One year later, MVP defeated Shelton Benjamin on the March 20 edition of SmackDown to regain the gold. He reigned as champ for 76 days before dropping the strap to Kofi Kingston that June.
Although the U.S. title never elevated MVP to main event status, he was involved in top-tier feuds with Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Big Show and others on Raw and SmackDown, respectively. Furthermore, his record-setting reign and entertaining programs with the likes of Hardy and Benjamin made him the greatest U.S. Champion in WWE history.

Who could face Rob Van Dam? Top 5!

    5. John Cena.  This is something of an obvious choice in hindsight. RVD’s most famous victory in WWE came against the Cenation leader at ECW One Night Stand 2006, where he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract in front of a riotous New York City crowd to claim Cena’s WWE Title. The victory was not only symbolic of ECW's resilience (Paul Heyman himself counted the pinfall), but it later led to a direct revival of the coveted ECW Championship and the resurrection of ECW itself. But with both Superstars having evolved beyond their skills of seven years ago (and without Edge around to potentially swing the bout), it’d be interesting to see if Van Dam can recreate his most momentous feat.

    4. Daniel Bryan.
One part powerhouse and one part highflier, RVD was a Superstar who combined the best of both worlds during his tenure in WWE. As another hybrid competitor, Daniel Bryan is arguably the heir apparent to Mr. Monday Night’s legacy, and the former World Champion sees big things in a potential matchup between the two.
“Oh, I’m excited,” said Bryan of Van Dam’s big comeback. “Rob Van Dam was an innovator. The matches that he and Jerry Lynn had, that he and Sabu had, changed the way people viewed wrestling. I’m excited for him to come back because our styles match very interestingly.”
With the submission specialist currently fighting to prove his worth, there are few bigger fish than a former WWE Champion looking to re-establish his dominance. It says something about RVD’s caliber that even the famously egotistical Bryan somewhat defers to Van Dam’s mastery … except, of course, when it comes to one facet of the game.
“I’d love to see where my kicks stand next to his and where my flying stands next to his,” Bryan told WWE.com. “The only thing I think I’ve got him on is submissions.”

    3. Ryback.
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s the Battle of the Airbrushed Singlets! Despite the fact that RVD and Ryback are rocking similar singlets, this is an intriguing match for a number of reasons. Ryback lives to pound opponents into defeat, but Van Dam could ground the behemoth from the air. All it takes is a concentrated effort and a willingness to absorb pain and Ryback suddenly becomes human as a result. RVD has battled many monsters in his heyday; veteran instinct vs. youthful power could well be a marquee match in the months to come. Not that Ryback is exactly sweating a confrontation with Mr. Monday Night …
“Who is RVD?” sneered the “Human Wrecking Ball” when reached for comment. “He used to be an ECW legend, he had a great run in WWE before, [but] he’s walking into a whole new generation, a generation I’m the leader of. If he wants to get in the ring with Ryback, I’ll eat him up, spit him out and eat him back up again.”
    Challenge issued.

    2. CM Punk.  When Rob Van Dam last set foot in WWE, CM Punk was the buzzy ECW rookie who was competing for his job every night. Van Dam himself was the World Champion-contending “Paul Heyman Guy” who used the machinations of the mad scientist as a means to achieve glory. Now, of course, the tables have turned and Punk is the Heyman Guy (though possibly not for much longer) with a legend that casts a long shadow across the WWE roster, and RVD is the wild card returning to a landscape that some are wondering may have left him behind.

    1. Brock Lesnar.  At first glance, the bout seems like a gross mismatch given Lesnar’s size. But “The Beast Incarnate” and RVD have tussled before, during Lesnar’s meteoric ascent to the WWE Championship a decade ago. In fact, this very contest concluded the 2002 King of the Ring tournament. And while The Anomaly ultimately captured the crown in that tilt, the victory was still a full four years before RVD became WWE Champion and longer still before Lesnar took the world of mixed-martial arts by storm. Now that Lesnar has re-emerged as a hybrid powerhouse and RVD is set to make his return after years of honing his craft, perhaps the two Heyman protégés can have it out once again.
